Hello and welcome to Our Crafty Mom!
I’m so happy to be teaming up again with a great group of bloggers for our annual Mother’s Day Giveaway.
This year’s giveaway amount is the highest yet and we are thrilled to be able to give three lucky readers the opportunity to win.
Before we get to the giveaway details, I want to show you how to make a DIY serving tray that makes a perfect Mother’s Day Gift.
For some reason, I always seem to be looking for a serving tray-usually to bring my daughter soup or breakfast in bed.
But this serving tray is totally for me. Let’s get to the details.
How To Make A DIY Serving Tray
Supplies
- Pallet Wood Sign– You can find chalkboard pallet signs at the craft store, but here is an unfinished one if you want to stain or paint it.
- Chalk Couture Harvest Transfer
- Chalkology Paste Bright White
- Small Squeegee
- Liberty Bar Pulls
Instructions
Here is a very helpful image showing the four easy steps for working with Chalk Couture transfers:
Step 1.
Peel your chalk transfer from its backer pulling from top to bottom to avoid stretching. The transfer will be sticky.
Step 2.
Fuzz your transfer before using it, by pressing the sticky side onto a dish towel to remove some of the stickiness.
Step 3.
Place the transfer onto the center of the pallet sign and press to smooth out the transfer. Be sure there are no bubbles where the transfer image is, so there is no bleeding.
Step 4.
Use the squeegee to spread a thin layer of the chalkology paste to the transfer, scraping off any excess.
Step 5.
Add the handles to each end of the tray using the included hardware.
This project seriously took less than an hour to make. If you can find the sign already painted, even less than that!
There are so many uses for this tray and with the garden theme, it would be great to use outside too.
You definitely want to finish it with a clear sealant though.
Is this something you could see yourself making?
I have to warn you that Chalk Couture is very addictive!
It’s so easy that you will feel like a professional artist in no time!

I would love nothing more than to finish making my mom her serving tray that I'm doing with an ocean then and I would most definitely treat my mom with the gift card if my mom and I are blessed enough to win it. Thank you for reaching out and people's days brighter.

Hi Michelle! I love this idea of yours. And thank you for the detailed guide. Is there a problem if I get air bubbles when putting on the sticker? Thank you!
