This quick and easy DIY poetry journal is being shared as part of this month’s Craft Lightning roundup of obscure holidays, where crafts are made in 15 minutes or less!

I chose to create a project for Great Poetry Reading Day, which is April 28th. My Son is a writer and loves poetry so I made this journal for him. There is nothing like a leather journal, especially one that is personalized with a really great verse!

When I was looking at what signified Great Poetry Reading Day, it said it was in honor of some really great verse, so I added a quote from Chalk Couture that really resonated with me. I knew my Son would like it as well-especially since it was given to him to start the New Year. Let me show you how quick and easy this DIY Journal was to make.

DIY Poetry Journal

At the start of the New Year, you can usually find journals and calendars for 50% off, so I was psyched when I found this leather journal at the craft store. It has a masculine look to it and is small enough to fit in a coat pocket.

My Son always has a small notebook and pen on him and is constantly writing, so this journal will come in very handy. Supplies

• Faux Leather Journal
• Expansion Pack
• Your Life Your Story Transfer
• Chalkology Paste Black Velvet
• Small Squeegee

Instructions:

• Step 1 – Place the Your Life Your Story Transfer in the center of the inside cover. 

• Step 2 – Use the small squeegee to add the black chalk paste to the transfer. 

• Step 3 – Let the transfer dry

• Step 4 – Add expansion pack with zipper pouch.
