Create a useful and pretty new mommy survival kit filled with items to pamper Mom.
It has been 20 years since I was a new Mom, but I don’t think you ever forget the overwhelming love and joy you feel when you first hold your baby.
I also don’t think you ever forget how unbelievably tired you are the first couple of months (or 18 years) of the baby’s life.
I’m going to a baby shower for a family member and in addition to a gift for baby, I really wanted to put together a fun, useful gift for Mommy.

New Mommy Survival Kit
Of course, I love to include handmade gifts so I have been busy this week putting together a New Mommy Survival Kit. Here it is all packaged up and then I’ll include a list of what’s inside:
I would have loved to have received this at my Baby Shower-heck, I’d like to receive it now . This would make a great Mother’s Day gift or even birthday present for your friend.
It is so much more meaningful to receive a basket put together yourself rather than buying a pre-made basket. Now on to the fun stuff! Here is what’s in the New Mommy Survival Kit:
- Yankee Candle (I chose Soft Blanket)
- DIY Lavender Linen Spray
- DIY Lavender Sugar Scrub
- Bath & Body Lavender Lotion & Body Gel
- Bath & Body Mini Hand Sanitizers
- Journal/pen (perfect for middle of the night notes/reminders)
- Fuzzy Socks (they fix everything ?)
- Chocolate (her favorite Reese’s)
- Magazines
- Dunkin Donuts Gift Card (hello?-caffeine)
- Advil (no explanation needed)
I went with a lavender theme as it is known for it’s soothing effect and it is perfect for a new Mom! This Baby Shower is for a little girl, so I went with a pink theme.
It really is all in the details and just going that extra step of putting the candy in a pretty jar and making handmade cards or gift tags, really makes a difference.
I also made two of my love you to the moon and back chalkboard signs-one for the new baby and one for the big brother.
It’s important to include a little something for the siblings so they don’t feel left out either!

I will do a tutorial for the lavender linen spray and sugar scrub this week. It is so simple, but really just a lovely gift! Here is a link to a DIY Lavender Shower Melts which could also be included.
I hope you enjoyed seeing this New Mommy Survival Kit. I had a lot of fun putting it together. You may also want to check out this gift guide for her. Have a great day!
