Learn how to make a beautiful and useful solar light garden post for your walkway.
I wanted to make a Solar Light Garden Post for some time and finally had a chance to complete it. We have limited outdoor lighting and a long driveway so it really makes it difficult if you are carrying things in at night.
I have been pricing outdoor solar lanterns, but they are out of the budget, so I went to Lowe’s with a vision in mind.

Solar Light Garden Post
The supplies needed:
- 4x4x8 foot post cut in half $9
- 2 solar lights-mine were $4.97 each
- Clay pot clips Wal-Mart one set $5.98
- House numbers I paid $1.29 each
- Pansies $5 6 pack
- 4″ clay pot/saucer
- 2″ clay pot/saucer
- Potting soil
The post was painted in two coats of semi-gloss white and simply screwed in the solar light. Here is a similar solar light cap: Solar Light Cap
I found these awesome clay pot clips at Wal-Mart, but there are similar ones here-Flower Pot Klips
A clip was attached to each side. I planted pansies and added the clay pots to the post. The post was secured in a fairly deep hole.
It really gives off a good amount of light and I love how it looks at the end of my walkway. For about $20 a piece you can’t go wrong!
