Valentine’s Day Pillows
If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram you know I am slightly obsessed with making pillows, specifically no-sew pillows.
The Halloween ghost pillow I made last year was super popular and one of my personal favorites, so I thought it would be fun to make a couple with hearts.
Why You Will Love These Valentine’s Day Pillows
- They are made with Dollar Tree pillow covers, so they are very affordable.
- There is no sewing required; if you can use a glue gun and scissors you can make them! 🙂
- They are double-sided. One side has a sweet gingerbread design for Christmas and the other side can be used for Valentine’s Day. But, the hearts are neutral and would look cute in a nursery or child’s room.
Where to Find Pillow Covers
If you can’t find pillow covers at Dollar Tree, here are some other places you can find affordable covers.
- Thrift store – don’t discount the thrift store for pillow covers. Give them a good washing and you are good to go!
- Amazon-my go to for pillow covers. Check out this set of 4 Halloween pillow covers and these vintage bird and flower spring pillows I ordered from Amazon. They are 18×18 and fit perfectly on this set of 4 pillow forms. Simply change out the covers for each season or holiday. It saves on storage and is a budget-friendly way to keep costs down.
- Cricut-If you want a plain white pillow cover, I LOVE the blank pillow covers from Cricut. They also fit the 18×18 pillow forms and are so reasonable at just $5.50 as of this writing.
- Hobby Lobby – you can usually find canvas pillow covers for just a few dollars.
Pillow Supplies
- Dollar Tree Mop Head
- Blank Pillow Covers- mine are from Dollar Tree
- Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks-this is my favorite.
- Craft Scissors
How To Make a Valentine’s Day Pillow
Here is the super simple tutorial to make no-sew heart pillows.
Step 1. Cut the yarn from the mop base
Use your craft scissors to cut the individual yarn strings where they meet the base of the mop head.
Step 2. Cut 48 pieces of yarn
Determine how many hearts you will be making for your pillow size. I chose to add 4 rows of 4 hearts for my square pillow.
Step 3. Determine placement
To get an idea of how many hearts you will need and the placement, lay the strands of yarn for each heart on to your pillow before gluing.
Step 4. Glue the yarn
Start by gluing the outside piece of yarn first. Don’t overdo it with the glue as it will leak onto the front side. Press the yarn down for a minute so it is secure.
Step 5. Repeat with remaining yarn
Next up, hot glue the 2nd and 3rd piece to the middle piece for each heart. Squeeze the pieces so they are close together.
Step 6. Glue each heart to the pillow
Now it’s time to glue each heart where you want them on the pillow. Add a good amount of glue to the back, but don’t make them too thick for the same reason noted above.
There you have it! Super cute, easy-to-make DIY Valentine’s Day pillows to add to your home decor. It’s hard to believe that these pillow covers can be made for just about $5 for two covers!
You can’t get much easier or more budget-friendly than these cute and festive pillows.
