Add a little Christmas cheer to your bedroom with these woodland-themed cozy Christmas bedroom ideas.
The holiday season is here and I couldn’t be happier. My cozy cottage bedroom was the first room I decorated with lots of Christmas DIY’s that I’m excited to share with you.

This is our first Christmas in our little hideaway nestled in the woods of New Hampshire. While the home is not large, it’s perfect for me and my adult daughter.
When I started thinking about what room to share for today’s tour, I immediately thought of my bedroom. While not a large space, it is light, bright, and airy with oversized windows that showcase the country views.
I can’t wait to see what it looks like covered in a blanket of snow. I’m here to show you that you can still bring in cozy Christmas bedroom accessories and decor no matter the size of your room.
Here are a few budget-friendly tips for bringing in that cozy factor to your bedroom.
Add Garland to a Headboard
The one thing I buy each year is a fresh pine garland. You can pick it up at most grocery or hardware stores for under $20.
That is actually a splurge for me, but it adds so much bang for your buck. You can see how pretty it looked on my Christmas porch last year.
And look how elegant it looks on my sleigh bed:
How to Hang Garland on a Headboard
The great thing about this pine garland is it is extra-long, so I will have enough left to use on my Christmas mantel too-score!
I chose to leave my garland plain, but you can easily dress it up with wood bead garland or other Christmas accessories if you want.
- Fresh Christmas Garland (mine is from Home Depot)
- Strong Tape (I used electrical tape because it was what I had)
- Wire Cutters
- Floral Wire
- Start by measuring the length of your headboard, adding about a foot so you can drape the garland.
- Use wire cutters to cut off the excess garland.
- Drape the garland over one end of your headboard and secure it to the backside with strong tape.
- Bring the garland up to the center of the headboard and add a little bit of tape.
- Continue to drape the garland to the opposite end of the headboard and secure it with your tape.
Because you could see the tape in the middle, I chose to add a little snowy pinecone stem that I had in my craft stash. You could also cut extra pine and secure it with wire.
How to Keep Christmas Garland Fresh
- Fresh greenery will last indoors for about two weeks. It may keep longer outdoors in cold climates.
- You can expand the life by keeping it out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources.
- Mist with water daily to help the cuttings last.
Hang a Fresh Wreath In a Window
After hanging the garland on the headboard, I felt the center window really needed a fresh wreath. Our local Market Basket had them on sale for $7.99. You can’t beat that!
Unfortunately, I had a little trouble getting the wreath to stay in the window. I used command strips for windows that hold 4 lbs. It literally stayed up just a few minutes.
So I did what I normally do, reached out to the Facebook community to ask for tips.
Here were a couple of suggestions for hanging a wreath in a window:
- Use extra-large suction cups
- Hang it with a ribbon and tack it to the top of the window frame.
- Heat the sticky part of the command strip with a blow dryer to melt it a little bit then hang.
I went with option 3 because I had one strip left and I’m happy to say it worked!
Christmas Bedroom Accessories
One of my favorite things to do in any room is accessorize! If you are into fashion, it’s like adding jewelry to an outfit to really make a statement. 🙂
Because I’m always mindful of a budget, I DIY many of the pieces in my home. For example, the pretty round side table was a $2 thrift store find updated with decoupaged napkins.
It has a cottage vibe to it that is a perfect match to the lamp found at a home store years ago. A simple faux pine wreath was paper clipped to the top of the lampshade.
Paper clips are handy for many craft projects like securing foam pumpkins to wreaths!
The pretty Happy Holidays clip art frame is from my favorite home decor subscription box Decocrated, as are the pretty throw pillows.
There are actually two pillow covers and the flip side is black and white buffalo check. (more to come on that).
Next up…
I may have a slight obsession with bottle brush trees. Did you see my lavender bottle brush tree wreath? It’s what inspired me to make these sweet little cone trees.
I’ll have a tutorial for these later this week. Any guesses what they are made from?
Add a Cozy Reading Spot
Although there wasn’t a ton of space at the foot of my bed, I was determined to fit my favorite IKEA Ektorp chair in my bedroom.
I LOVE to sit in this chair and browse Pinterest and read. Cozy faux fur throws and comfy pillows warm this space up.
A beautiful pine cone garland adds a touch of nature to the sleigh bed.
Remember I mentioned Decocrated? These adorable little woodland animals are also from the Winter box. You actually get three. I added the 3rd one to the hoop wreath that was included as well:
Isn’t that little squirrel adorable? It just makes me smile!

Add a Small Table Top Tree
In keeping with my woodland theme, I added a simple fresh tree in an olive bucket and added white lights.
It is so comfy at night with the glow of lights.
My cat Nala sure enjoys it. 😀
I really hope you enjoyed my cozy Christmas bedroom.
Now, if you need me I’ll be sitting right here with a mug of hot cocoa heading over to visit Leen from Sand Dollar Lane next up on the Celebrating Christmas tour!
Won’t you join me?

Michelle, you've proven that you don't need a lot of space to create a room with big impact! Everything looks so festive and cozy. I love that you used fresh greenery...it must smell so good! The little cone trees are adorable! I'm glad you were able to fit your Ektorp chair into the room. There's nothing like a reading nook! I love the last photo with your kitty curled up on the foot of the bed. It was fun to hop with you, my friend! Pinned:)

Your cozy bedroom looks gorgeous, Michelle! Adding the garland to the sleigh bed was a great idea. I’m glad I’m not the only one who has to experiment with ways to hang things, by the way. I also love that window pane decor on your walls. Happy Holidays!
