Download these free you’ve been booed printables for Halloween and get in on this fun tradition. It’s a cool way to spread some holiday cheer.
The best part is that it’s really easy to do. All you need is a you’ve been booed sign (I’ve got a free printable for you below) and some candy.
Once you’ve got your sign and candy, you have to sneak over to your neighbor’s house, leave the goodies on their doorstep, ring the doorbell, and then run away!
If you’re feeling really ambitious, you can even decorate their porch with some spooky Halloween decorations.
Just make sure you’re back at your house before they come outside to investigate – otherwise, they might catch you in the act!
Ready to get started? Here’s everything you need to know about the “you’ve been booed” tradition, plus free printable signs and door tags that you can use.
Add them to boo baskets with some fun treats and you are ready to go!
What is You’ve Been Booed?
The you’ve been booed tradition is a fun way to spread some Halloween cheer – and candy!
Here’s how it works: someone secretly leaves a you’ve been booed sign and a bag of candy on their neighbor’s doorstep.
The recipient of the boo then has 24 hours to pay it forward by doing the same for two other households.
The goal is to keep the momentum going by getting as many people involved as possible.
And of course, the more people who are involved, the more candy everyone gets! Win-win!
You’ve Been Booed Printable
There are all sorts of different ways that you can boo your neighbors. You can use store-bought signs or make your own as I did.
I created four different designs for my boo signs – one that says we’ve been booed and one that says you’ve been booed – so that everyone knows what’s going on.
I also included blank spaces on both signs so that you can personalize them.
For example, you could add your family’s name or the name of your neighborhood.
There are also gift tags for your spooky basket and door tags.

You can attach them to a spooky basket with mini bottles of alcohol, or put together a cocktail gift basket.
Maybe your neighbor will invite you over after to enjoy some Halloween cocktails.
What To Include In A Spooky Basket
One of the best ways to use these booed printables is to attach the gift tags to a basket of treats.
Fill it with small treats, Halloween candies, or small toys.
You can find inexpensive items at Dollar Tree that would be perfect to include in your basket of treats.
Attach the printable Halloween door hanger on your neighbor’s door and get ready for a doorbell ditch!
This is something you can do for the entire month of October. Here is a basket of treats I made for my neighbors:
