Decoupage Paper Printables
With Fourth of July just around the corner, I decided to make patriotic mason jars using the cutest Highland cow printable.
This is such a simple mod podge craft and the possibilities are truly endless. The printable is from Creative Fabrica.
If you aren’t familiar with them get ready to be amazed! They have a ton of freebies and paid graphics, SVG files and so much more. Take a look around and let me know what you think.
I’ve included a printable craft/DIY card at the bottom of this post to make this craft project even easier for you! But I’ll share a few tips first so you can get started.
Supplies Needed for Decoupage Mason Jars
- White Chalk Paint or white spray paint
- Foam Brush or Chip Brush
- Mason Jars– check thrift stores for mason jars. I found mine for 50 cents each!
- Highland Cow Printables – on Creative Fabrica
- Pool noodles or craft foam
Tips on Creating Decoupage Planters
Start by painting the mason jars with white paint. You will need 2-3 coats.
Cut out the highland cow image. I chose to cut around the image, however you can cut it into a square with more of the black background showing if you like. It is a matter of preference.
Once the paint is dry, use a brush to cover the front of the planter with mod podge.
Place the paper printable onto the mod podge mason jar and smooth it out to secure it.
Quick tip: use a plastic bag to smooth out any wrinkles. This works much better than using your fingertips. This will help get a smooth finish and not tear the paper.
Once the paper is smooth, add a top coat of mod podge to seal it.
The final step is to let the mod podge fully dry. I usually let it cure overnight, but at least an hour is sufficient.
There are so many different ways you can fill your mason jar. Since these have a patriotic theme I chose to make cute red, white and blue flowers to add to each jar.
These cuties are made with Dollar Tree plastic tablecloths. I’ll share a tutorial for these soon!
Aren’t the Highland Cows just darling? My little niece Maggie’s nickname is Maggie Moo and she loves Highland cows.
I plan to give her one of these for her bedroom to celebrate the 4th of July. I’m sure she will get a kick out of it!
