Make an absolutely adorable farmhouse caddy with this DIY Dollar Tree cutting board craft. I’ll show you how to make it and 5 different ways to use it!
You can make this DIY Dollar Tree cutting board craft for under $4!
Not only is it easy and inexpensive to make, but it can be used in so many different ways.
Be sure to read to the end of this post, as I’ll show you 5 different ways to use it.
But, I’m sure you can come up with about 5 more!
I’ve had this craft idea in my head for several months, but haven’t had a chance to make it.
This weekend was a beautiful 70 degrees, so I sat outside on my deck and spent the afternoon crafting.
It was seriously glorious! Here is what you need to make your own farmhouse caddy.
DIY Dollar Tree Cutting Board Craft Supplies
- Dollar Tree Cutting Boards
- Floral Napkins
- Mod Podge
- Small Wood Crate
- Foam Brush
- DecoArt Color Stain – Navy
You may recognize the pretty floral napkins from the side table makeover I recently shared.
This cutting board craft uses the same decoupage method.

How To Make A DIY Dollar Tree Cutting Board Farmhouse Caddy
Step 1.
Place the mod podge on top of the cutting board.
Step 2.
Use a foam brush to spread an even layer across the board.
Step 3.
Start by removing the top layer of the napkin.
Most napkins are 2-3 ply and you only need the top printed layer.
Step 4.
Lightly pat the napkin down.
I learned a tip of putting your hand in a plastic bag to smooth the wrinkles out.
Trim off any excess.
Step 5.
Apply a top coat of mod podge to the napkin and let dry.
Step 6.
Repeat the same process on both sides of the cutting board and on second cutting board.
Step 7.
Now that you have the cutting boards all covered with pretty napkins, it’s time to paint the wood crate.
Step 8.
This DecoArt color stain is one of my favorites-especially in navy.
You can see this same color stain used on a small marble kitchen island.
Step 9.
At first I spray-painted it gold, but it didn’t show up well with the napkins, so I gave it 2 coats of the color stain. Let dry.
Step 10.
Next up, use wood glue to attach the cutting boards to the wood crate.
Step 11.
Place something heavy on top and let it dry.
Step 12.
A piece of rope was placed through the top of the caddy and knotted off at each end.
You can also use a dowel, but I didn’t have any on hand.
I actually like how the rope looks.
It definitely gives it a farmhouse style.
How To Use The Dollar Tree Cutting Board Farmhouse Caddy
Remember I told you I would share 5 fun ideas? Here you go!
1. Sink Caddy
This little farmhouse caddy is the perfect size to hold your dishwashing liquid and brushes.
Plus, you can use napkins that match your kitchen decor.
Wouldn’t a buffalo check one look adorable?
2. Mason Jar Succulent Planter
This pretty mason jar succulent planter may be my favorite!
Isn’t it so pretty?
3. Faux Flower Holder
Add a pretty vase with silk flowers for another sweet look.
You could also add a little gift tag and give this as a gift.
4. Television Remote Caddy
I’m one of those who hates leaving the television remotes out.
My daughter tends to lose them all the time in the couch cushions. 🙂
This little caddy can be placed on a side table, or coffee table to keep all the remotes in one handy place, and look pretty too!
5. Plant Holder
This little 4″ plant fit perfectly inside the farmhouse caddy.
This is probably my second favorite.
The pink planter looks so pretty and really pops against the navy.
Well, there you have it. Another quick and easy Dollar Tree craft.
