Make A Cozy No-Sew Flannel Throw Pillow

Sharing is caring!

Hello! With fall just about here, I wanted to make a cozy flannel throw pillow for my bedroom, because what is cozier than soft flannel? The best thing about this pillow is it is no-sew! Add flannel sheets and you are ready for those crisp fall nights.

Hopefully, Mother Nature will get the memo soon and fall will actually get here. In New England we have been having temps in the 80’s, with humidity to match. I’m ready for sweater weather. Are you with me?

One of the things I never learned how to do was sew. I am still hoping to change that one day. In the meantime, I continue to no-sew with either my hot glue gun, or in this case, fabric adhesive. Let me show you how easy this cozy flannel pillow was to make.

I started with an old 20″x20″ pillow that had lost a lot of its “fluff”. Of course, I was so anxious to make my new pillow that I forgot to take a picture of the before. Begin by laying the fabric out and adding poly-fil to the underside, then laying the pillow down and adding additional poly-fil to the top of the pillow.

Fold over the flannel fabric on each side and then fold up the fabric on the bottom. It is similar to wrapping a present.

Add your fabric adhesive to all sides of the flannel and hold it securely for a couple of minutes.

This literally took me about 15 minutes at this point. But I felt it was a little plain and due to the large size it needed something. Now everything is better with pom poms right? I pulled out my pom pom maker and made 8 pom poms in no time. I was lucky to find some yarn in my stash that blended perfectly with the flannel fabric.

See how easy that was? The fabric was on sale for 60% off so it was $4 a yard. The total cost of this large pillow is about $8 and it is exactly what I was looking for. I love how it looks on my velvet bedding. You can read all about the bedding and master bedroom makeover here.

This pillow is the perfect size for watching television at night. A quick and easy way I clean my throw pillows is to use my Home Right Steam Cleaner. This little machine is amazing. You can find it here.

I wish I knew how to sew, but I don't, so I like this idea! I made some no sew curtains several years ago, and they still look great!

That is so cute! I love that you just happened to have the perfect yarn to match the flannel. They look like they were made for each other. Pinned.

I've never used fabric glue for a pillow. Does it hold up well when washed? I would love to do use glue and not have to drag out my sewing machine :-)
