Make A Reverse Canvas Farmhouse Wood Lemonade Sign

Decorate your home for summer with a beautiful reverse canvas farmhouse wood lemonade sign.

Hello and welcome. We have been experiencing 90 degree temps in New Hampshire, which is pretty unusual for this time of year. It has been making me think of all things summer. To me that means fresh squeezed lemonade!

I’ve been obsessed with lemon decor for the past couple of years. One of my favorite summer tablescapes was this farmhouse style lemon tablescape.

It used a DIY lemon garland that I just reused in a summer wreath that I’ll be sharing next week. I wanted to make a farmhouse lemonade sign to go with my summer decorating this year, so of course I pulled out my Cricut Cutting Machine.

I used a Maker, but you can use an Explore Air, or any cutting machine that works with vinyl. Since being home I’ve been trying to only use supplies that I currently have in my home.

As a long time crafter, I never seem to have a problem finding things to use, ha! The only item I’ve had to restock in the past couple of months were glue sticks.

I originally planned to use scrap wood for this DIY sign, but I remembered I had a few canvas signs in my stash. I’ve been wanting to try a reverse canvas forever, so I figured this would be the perfect project.

I’m so glad I used a canvas because I LOVE the wood stain with the font in this sign. It looks like a vintage sign and was made for about $10. You can’t beat that!

Here is the simple tutorial if you want to make your own.

Supplies Needed For Reverse Canvas Wood Lemonade Sign

Step 1.

Remove the staples from the canvas. I used a handy multi-tool, but you can use snips, or whatever you have on hand.

Step 2.

Once all the staples are removed, take off the canvas and set it aside.

Step 3.

Stain or paint the wood using an old rag or foam brush. This is when old t-shirts come in handy!

Step 4.

Pull up the fresh lemonade design on using the Cricut Design Space™ app. I purchased this design on Design Bundles. Size the design to fit your canvas. I went with 11.5″ x 8.5″, which was perfect for this canvas.

Step 5.

Place the vinyl on the mat and follow the prompts to cut the design.

Step 6.

Weed the vinyl by removing the “negative” pieces. A weeding tool will be your best friend for this part!

Step 7.

Place transfer tape on the weeded design and burnish it with a credit card, or scraper.

Step 8.

Lift up the design on the transfer tape and place it in the center of your canvas.

Step 9.

Burnish it to the canvas and remove the tape.
