While I was shopping at Lowe’s, I found some really cool things that would make great gifts, so I put together this Mother’s Day Gift Guide. There is something for everyone!

Supplies
The good news is you only need a few supplies for this unique gift. It comes together in about 15 minutes.
Plus, Stanley Cups come in so many beautiful colors so you can easily customize it with the recipients favorite color and type of flower.
- Stanley Cup: I chose a pretty lilac 30 oz flip straw tumbler from Lowe’s. They had a great selection in all different styles and colors.
- Fresh Flowers: Grocery store flowers have come a long way. Trader Joe’s has lovely seasonal bouquets that are very affordable. Check out your local grocery store, especially around holidays.
- Wet Foam: Mine is from Dollar Tree, but you can find it at any craft store.
- Pruning Shears: or garden snips

How to Fill a Stanley Cup with Flowers
Cut Foam: Start by cutting the foam to fit the cup. The best way to do that is to turn the cup upside down on the foam, pressing it firmly and removing the excess.

Fill with Water: Place the foam into a bowl of water and let it soak for a couple of minutes until it is nice and wet.

Tips for Cutting Fresh Flowers
Use the Right Tools: Use sharp garden snips, sharp scissors, or a clean knife to make a precise cut. You never want to use a dull knife.
Make the Cut: Cut the stem at a 45-degree angle. For the cup, trim the flowers to fit the height of the cup.
It is recommended to cut 1-2″ off the bottom of each stem, but you may need to cut 3-4″ for this size.

Arrange the Flowers: The largest or most eye-catching flowers should be placed in the center.
Add filler flowers such as daisies and carnations. Greenery such as eucalyptus or ferns would go in the back, however, this arrangement is not large, so none were included.

Continue adding flowers, layering them to create height and depth.
Consider the 3-5-8 rule: This is a common rule of thumb when creating flower arrangements. Use three types of focal flowers, five stems of greenery, and eight stems of accent flowers for a balanced arrangement.
Add the Cup Cover and Straw: To finish off the adorable Stanley cup flower arrangement, I chose to include the cup cover to the bouquet.
Simply place the straw into the foam until it is nice and secure.

Add a Gift Tag: Attach a gift tag or card to your beautiful arrangement.

The Mother’s Day printables I created last year are the perfect purple color scheme for this gift.
You can get a card holder with the flower bouquet when you purchase the flowers, or use a bamboo skewer.

You can go with a larger bouquet if you like, but as this cup is somewhat narrow, I chose to keep the flowers to one bouquet. I’m very happy with how it turned out!

Did I mention this lilac color is my favorite and yellow roses are a sweet memory of my mom, so this is a gift for me. Nothing wrong with treating yourself-especially on Mother’s Day. 🙂

So, what do you think? Would you love to give or receive this Stanley Cup Floral Bouquet? What color cup would you choose?
