Summer Christmas Tree
In 14 years of blogging, this is my first year decorating a tree for Christmas in July and it won’t be my last! I had such a great time putting together this summer tree.
The first thing I had to do was decide on a theme. I went with summer tree decorations that focus on a tropical design with pink flamingos, bright pink and lime green deco-mesh, and DIY summer Santa printables. Hey, even Santa needs a vacation, right?

You can use them in a banner to hang on your mantel, as I show below, or add a few to your tree as ornaments.
King of Christmas Tree
The star of the show is the 9′ King Noble Flock Tree with LED Lights from King of Christmas.
This is my eighth year partnering with them, and I still get just as excited waiting for the tree to arrive. I may or may not do a little stalking of the FedEx truck until it’s delivered!
One of the many reasons I love decorating with a King of Christmas tree is how easy it is to set up. There is a handy storage bag included in the box, as well as a tree stand.
The tree comes in sections that are clearly labeled and simply stack together, so there’s no wrestling with individual branches or trying to figure out what goes where.
If you remember the days of inserting every branch into tiny color-coded holes, you’ll appreciate just how far artificial trees have come!
I had the tree assembled in about 15 minutes, and that was before fluffing the branches.
Speaking of fluffing the branches, King of Christmas includes the coolest gloves to keep your hands and arms safe from any scratches. Plus, it looks like Santa himself is fluffing the tree.

Supplies for Christmas in July Summer Tree
Here are the supplies I used to decorate the tree and mantel. Most of these were purchased at Dollar Tree, making it extremely affordable.
- Pink and Green Deco-Mesh: choose your color scheme and use a wide deco-mesh or other wide wired ribbon.
- Pink Flamingos: use a mix of large and small decorations for your tree.
- Summer Signs: pick up assorted cardboard signs that go with your chosen theme.
- Assorted Ornaments: don’t be afraid to use unexpected decor such as feather boas, DIY printables and other items.
How to Decorate a Summer Themed Christmas Tree
Gather your supplies in your chosen theme, turn on some Christmas music (or your favorite summer music) and get ready to decorate your beautiful tree.
Be sure to relax and enjoy the process and don’t stress about placement. If you are not happy with the initial steps, simply move things around until you are.
While I went with bright tropical colors, in pink, green, yellow and blue, choose whatever you prefer for your tree.
Step 1. Start by adding your ribbon or deco-mesh first. Don’t be afraid to mix up colors.
A quick tip: decorate the tree while the tree lights are on as it helps with placement.
Step 2. Add your larger decorations first, like the pink flamingos, pinata style pineapples and oversized signs. Next, add the smaller accessories to fill in any empty spaces.
Step 3. Decorate the base of the tree to go with your theme. A festive luau skirt placed around the tree stand gives such a cool tropic vibe. I love how it looks!
As my mantel is right next to the tree I chose to decorate the mantel as well. I’m obsessed with the pink flamingo garland I picked up on clearance at the craft store.
My DIY summer Santa printables also tie in the tropic theme and add extra color.
Step 4. Don’t forget to decorate the top of the tree with something unexpected. Rather than go with ribbon, I went with a palm tree style bush that was also a clearance craft store find.
That’s all there is to it! A fun and colorful summer Christmas tree that’s sure to bring a little extra joy to your home.
