Thrift Store Decor Tour
It’s my favorite time of the month; time for the Thrift Store Decor Tour with a few of my blogging friends. Be sure to read to the bottom of this post to see all of the thrifty makeovers.
My project consists of a $3 thrift store candle holder that has been in my stash for several months.
I’ve been waiting for inspiration to strike and with fall just around the corner, I wanted to create a fall centerpiece to add to my home decor.

Supplies for Fall Candle Holder Centerpiece
This DIY is extremely versatile, so feel free to switch up the florals to go with whatever season you want to decorate for.
A Christmas centerpiece would also be perfect. In fact, you may just see an updated version of this in my holiday decor!
- Fall Florals – I’m challenging myself to use supplies in my craft stash. These beautiful fall stems were leftover from my fall mantel.
- Candle Holder – these are easily found at thrift stores, home stores, or even your basement!
- Craft Foam or pool noodle – keep reading for my craft fail.
- Foam Pumpkins – these Dollar Tree velvet pumpkins were leftover from my loop yarn wreath.
- Craft Knife
Instructions for Candle Holder Centerpiece
Step 1. Attach Foam for Flowers
The first thing you want to do is secure foam to the top of the candle holder for the flowers.
I started with a foam block, however, as you can see in the images below, that was a craft fail!

Thankfully, I had a pool noodle in my craft closet, doesn’t everyone? 🙂
Simply cut the pool noodle to fit around the top of the candle holder and secure it with heavy duty adhesive tape. It works like a charm!

Step 2. Add Flowers
Use a craft knife to poke a hole into the pool noodle where you want to add the flower. Trim the stems to size and place them into the foam.
I didn’t even use hot glue on this project. It makes it super easy to change out. Plus, the flowers are secure enough without it.

Start with your larger florals first, such as hydrangeas. Fill in between with accent flowers and fillers.

Finish off with velvet pumpkins or other embellishments.

Simply add your candle stick and you have a beautiful and budget-friendly fall centerpiece perfect for your dining room table, or anywhere you want a touch of autumn.

Pool noodles work great for wreaths, ornaments, etc. They are less expensive than foam. Now they even sell black or white for Halloween. :)
