Dollar Tree Christmas Tree DIY
I’ve been sharing new gingerbread crafts and decor for gingerbread week as discussed on Facebook. This cute little dollar store tabletop tree is my latest craft.
Here are the other projects shared so far:
- Gingerbread themed Christmas Tree
- Gingerbread Christmas Tree Ornaments
- Dollar Tree Dollhouse Gingerbread Houses
- Gingerbread Mugs with Faux Whipped Cream Toppers
I picked up two ready to paint nutcracker vases for $2 each at the after Christmas sales last year. They are the perfect size for a Dollar Tree Christmas Tree.
A bit of spray paint and cute kitchen themed mini-ornaments and I have a festive tree for my kitchen counter to go with my gingerbread mugs.
Here are the supplies that I used, just about all from Dollar Tree.
Supplies
- White Tabletop Christmas Tree
- Rustoleum Spray Paint – I used Nutmeg which is the perfect gingerbread house color.
- White Puffy Paint
- Christmas Ribbon – I went with a cute gingerbread theme
- Mini Ornaments
- Small Snowflakes
- Foam Block
- Assorted Embellishments – I found the cute kitchen themed gingerbread accessories at Michaels
Step 1. Paint the nutcracker
Start by painting the nutcracker vase with a couple of coats of nutmeg spray paint. This is the same spray paint that I used for the Dollar Tree gingerbread houses.
Let the paint dry completely.
Step 2. Add puffy paint
Next up, use puffy paint to highlight the details of the nutcracker. The puffy paint bottle has a point that makes it easy to use. To clean up any mistakes, use a wet q-tip. Let dry.
Step 3. Secure with foam block
Place a small foam block in the base of the nutcracker. Secure the tree into the block and decorate your tabletop tree!
Start with festive ribbon, then add your mini ornaments. Easy peasy!
The total cost is about $10, so it’s also budget-friendly. If you can’t find the nutcrackers at your craft store, you can use a vase, basket, or even the milk jug planters they sell at Dollar Tree.
