Learn how easy it is to make a beautiful DIY decoupage chinoiserie vase from a Dollar Store glass vase.
Hello and welcome! In case you’re new to the blog, the purpose of the Pinterest Challenge is to motivate all the participants (and you too) to not just pin, but to make it happen!
This month’s challenge is about Spring Projects with a focus on Easter and Gardening, so I chose a beautiful DIY chinoiserie vase that I will use in my Spring tablescape.
Decoupage Chinoiserie Vase
This is the pin that inspired me to create this DIY vase. I also have to give a shout out to Amy from Atta Girl Says. She started me on my obsession with all things chinoiserie.
I first tried my hand with these DIY chinoiserie ornaments.
They were so fun to create and I knew there would be more chinoiserie in my life. It helps that my home is decorated in shades of blue and white.
Did you see the Blue and white dollar store glasses I just painted? They were so easy to make.
Here is what you need to create your own beautiful DIY chinoiserie vase.
Supplies Needed For DIY Chinoiserie Vase
Step 1.
Clean the glass to make sure it is free from dust, etc.
Step 2.
Remove the second layer from the napkin, leaving just the chinoiserie layer.
Step 3.
Cut the napkin to the size you want. I found it was easier to start with a large square for the center of the vase.
Step 4.
Use the foam brush to paint mod podge directly on the vase.
Step 5.
Smooth the napkin onto the mod podge.
Step 5.
Repeat the same process with mod podge on the vase and add the napkins until the vase is covered.
Step 5.
Allow the mod podge to dry then add a top coat of mod podge.
See how easy that was? My Spring tablescape this year is going to be chinoiserie themed, so this vase will be the centerpiece with fresh tulips.
I hope you will come back to check that out in a few weeks. There will be a few more thrifty DIY’s included as well. You know I love my thrifty DIY’s! 🙂

@ourcraftymom,
Hi, I really like this. Can this be done on ceramic? Aldo you specified glass in the description but your vase looks stainless steel?
