Burlap has been a staple in the craft and DIY world for so many years. I love how versatile it is and also let’s not forget how inexpensive it is. Now you can find burlap in so many pretty colors as well. Unfortunately, I cannot sew, but I can no-sew with the best of them! I needed a new valance to go in the bathroom and figured this Craft Lightning Challenge was the perfect opportunity to hit my burlap stash. Let’s get to it!
No-Sew Burlap Valance
1/2 Yard Burlap Fabric
Ribbon
Brads
First, measure the window length and cut the burlap fabric to size. Next fold the top of the fabric over the curtain rod. You can use hot glue to secure it, or brads like I did. As I tend to change things out frequently I didn’t want to use hot glue. If you don’t have brads you can even use safety pins. They are in the back of the fabric so no one will ever know!
Once in place, I simply tied ribbon in place on both sides. The cool thing is you can change out the ribbon if you get sick of it. This cute burlap valance took about 15 minutes to make and was under $5. You can’t beat that!
You can also see a pretty Coastal Burlap Starfish Wreath here and a Woven Burlap Chair here.

Great idea! Thanks for joining!
Hi Michelle. Burlap is so nice for Fall and it’s such a bonus that it has a nice neutral colour. I was considering adding some to my drapes as a ruffle but that hasn’t happened yet. Great inspiration for me, thanks for sharing.
I think Burlap will be popular for a long time. It is so versatile and I love the colors it comes in now!
These valances look so easy to make and since I don’t sew, I luv them even more! I’d luv to invite you to share with us at Wall to Wall DIY Wednesday, which runs thru Mondays! Best, Ann
