Hello and welcome to Our Crafty Mom. I can’t believe October is just about over.

Seriously, weren’t we just complaining about how hot our Summer was?

Well, we are moving on to Thanksgiving this month and have some great ideas for you.

If you follow me on instagram or facebook you may have seen some of my recent buffalo check projects.

I’ve definitely been crushing on navy and white buffalo check and had a small amount of fabric left.

It was the perfect amount to use for this mason jar. Let me show you how!

Mason Jar Supplies

Supplies

  • Mason Jars-You can find mason jars at the Dollar Store or any craft store.
  • Hot Glue Gun-My absolute favorite is the Surebonder Cordless Glue Gun which you can find here. If you craft a lot it is a game changer. The fact that it is cordless makes it so easy to use.
  • Buffalo Check Fabric Scraps-I found this navy and white at Joann Fabric.
  • Mod Podge
  • Chalk Ink-Midnight sky which you can find here.
  • Transfer-I used a cute little rooster which you can find here.

Instructions:

First cut strips of fabric to fit the length of the mason jar. I ended up with about 20 strips measuring about 1/2″-1″ width.

Next, dip each strip into mod podge and put them pattern side out in the jar. I used a small brush to flatten the fabric and smooth out any air bubbles.

I’ve used mod podge on fabric before, but never adding it inside glass. I used way too much mod podge and this took about 3-4 days to dry.

I was afraid it couldn’t be salvaged, but thankfully it dried clear. I did have to keep smoothing out the air bubbles several times and flattening the fabric somewhat over the course of two days.

I do like the look of the fabric inside the glass and will totally try this again, but using less mod podge.

The little rooster from Chalk Couture added a farmhouse touch that I am incorporating into my kitchen.

You can see a tutorial for using a transfer with chalk paste here. A few fall stems are added for a cute Thanksgiving display with a ceramic truck that I found at Target.

While this is not just for Thanksgiving, it definitely fits in nicely with the fall farmhouse style that I am going for.
