How to Make Pinecone Fire Starters

Step 1.

Start by securing a candle wick to each pinecone. You can wrap the wick in the crevices of the pinecone so it is nice and secure.

It’s best to begin by placing the metal disc that is on the wick at the bottom of the pinecone and wrapping it around to the top. Trim off any excess wick. You only want it to be an inch or two.

Step 2.

Place your choice of wax in a microwave-safe bowl.  I’ve used candle melts and beeswax I use a bowl from the dollar store.

Step 3.

It’s best to melt the wax in 30-second increments, mix it well and then microwave it again. You will probably need to heat the wax for about 2 minutes total depending on how much wax you use.

Step 4.

Line a muffin tin with cute cupcake liners. This makes it so easy to clean up and the pinecones fit perfectly in the liners. The wax gives a beautiful scent when added to a fire.

Quick tip: You can also use essential oils instead of scented candle wax if you want.

Step 5.

Pour the melted wax into each liner. Only fill it up about 1/4 of the way full. Place a pinecone strung with a candlewick into each liner.
