I have been anxiously awaiting November so I can finally start sharing Christmas projects! This DIY Christmas Wreath is the first one of the season and I’m kind of obsessed with it.

Anyone who knows me, even a little, knows of my love for buffalo plaid and little red trucks. This wreath combines the too and looks great on my front door.

I am waiting to officially hang it up after Thanksgiving, but took a few shots to show you how pretty it looks.

Not only am I sharing holiday door decor, but a group of my blogging friends are also sharing ideas to inspire you to #deckthehome.

This is my first project as an At Home DIY Participant and I’m excited to be included with this talented group. All of the links will be shared at the end of this tutorial, so be sure to check those out.

Here is the easy tutorial for the little red truck wreath, as well as simple bow making tips.

DIY Red Truck Christmas Door Wreath

Supplies

  • Grapevine Wreath (spray painted white)
  • Cotton Stems
  • Pine Stems
  • Red Berry Stems
  • Buffalo Plaid Wide Ribbon
  • Floral Wire

All of the supplies were bought at Michael’s at 50% off! I never pay full price. With all the coupons available and the incredible sales, you really don’t need to.

Step 1.

Start by placing the floral stems on the grapevine wreath to be sure you are happy with the placement.

Step 2.

Attach the stems to the wreath using floral wire. You can also use hot glue, but I repurpose wreaths a lot, so like to be able to remove the stems easily.

Once you have added all the floral stems, it is time to make the bow.

Step 3.

Gather one end of the ribbon leaving enough room for the tail. I wanted to have a long tail ribbon, but you can make it as long as you like. Start folding the ribbon forming loops.

Step 4.

Continue to make as many loops as you want for the bow size. For a large grapevine wreath 6-8 loops is standard.

Step 5.

Tie floral wire around the base of the loops securing it together. Be sure to leave enough wire to attach it to the grapevine wreath.

Step 6.

Attach the buffalo check bow to the wreath using the floral wire. Now just fluff the bow loops until you are happy with how it looks.

You can trim the ribbon tails if you like, or leave them long like I did.

The red berries really pops with the frosted stems. Spray painting the grapevine wreath also makes it fresh and bright.

Isn’t the little red truck just adorable? And the best part is, it lights up!

How cool is that? It flashes different colors of red, green and blue. This red truck was only $3 at Dollar General. What a bargain!

Here it is hanging on my front door:
