Gingerbread Christmas Tree Decoration Ideas
If you follow me on Facebook, you may have seen the miniature gingerbread houses I made using Dollar Tree dollhouses.
I had so much fun making them and was inspired to go with a gingerbread themed Christmas Tree for this year.
But, I didn’t want to go with red Christmas decorations. Don’t get me wrong, I went with red and white Christmas decorations last year and loved it.
This year I wanted something a little more neutral and understated with the focus on the stunning flocked tree from King of Christmas.
Plus, that gave me the opportunity to create a few DIY gingerbread decorations for the tree. Changing out your tree each year can get costly. Crafting your own ornaments is a great way to keep expenses down.
I have a few other money-saving tips that I’ll share below. Now, let’s get to all the details on this beauty.
Supplies for Christmas Tree Decor
- King of Christmas Queen Flock Tree
- Wood Bead Christmas Garland
- Copper Glass Ornaments
- Assorted Christmas Picks – mine are from Michaels
- DIY Gingerbread Ornaments – Be sure to come back Tuesday for a tutorial on 3 DIY ornaments!
King of Christmas Flocked Tree
I’m seriously obsessed with this tree. It looks gorgeous even without a single ornament on it. Not only is it beautiful, but it is also pre-lit with 800 LED lights for a vibrant glow.
I love that it is heavily flocked. Several people have messaged me asking if it is really messy. The image below shows the flocking that came off while I was setting it up.
That includes securing it in the tree stand. A quick sweep is all you need for clean-up.
The set-up is super simple. It comes in three pieces and includes a convenient on/off foot pedal so you don’t have to deal with unplugging it each night.
It comes with a tree stand, storage bag-even fancy gloves so you don’t scratch your hands while fluffing!

DIY Christmas Tree Collar
Another reason I chose to go with a neutral theme was I found a really cool wood crate at Goodwill several weeks ago for $5. The minute I spotted it I knew it would make the perfect tree stand.
Sure enough, when I placed the tree base in the wood crate, it fit perfectly. My plan was to paint a gingerbread village on the crate. I still may do that.
A happy surprise was coming up with the idea to add this winter tree sign to the front. It goes with the snowy theme and again fit like a glove.
All I did was place one wood screw to secure it. That way I can easily remove it if I want to. I’m seriously loving the look.
Gingerbread Christmas Decor Ideas
For the gingerbread-themed tree I went with painted Christmas ornament designs, as well as a set of bronze-color glass ornaments that were 50% off at Michaels.
How darling is this little gingerbread-themed ornament?
Nutcracker gingerbread men and air-dry clay gingerbread men add to the festive theme. My husband was a baker and pastry chef for many years, so these little guys are near and dear to my heart.
Come back for the tutorial on all 3 of these Tuesday. Velvet ribbon in various sizes and soft taupe colors add a bit of elegance.
A couple of 9′ wood bead garlands add a bit of a farmhouse touch. Did you see the salt shaker tassels I made for Halloween? I just picked up white Christmas Tree shalt shakers from Cracker Barrel to add to my collection.
Christmas picks in snowy white and silver, along with painted snowflakes from Dollar Tree complete this simple, but lovely tree.
It’s the perfect tree to enjoy at night by the fire with a cup of hot cocoa on a cold winter night. Living in New England, that will be very soon.
I hope you enjoyed these gingerbread Christmas Tree decoration ideas and that you are inspired to make your own ornaments.
