Baby in Bloom Baby Shower Decor
After months of planning and prep, it was finally time to celebrate with Amanda’s baby in bloom baby shower.
I do have some tips for things that worked well and things I would do differently.
Here is the mom-to-be arriving. She is seriously glowing and found the cutest maxi-dress paired with pearl embellished shoes and headband.

Baby Shower Welcome Sign
One tip I have for saving money on a large welcome sign is to order a poster size print at your local CVS, Walmart, or Staples.
Check to see who has the best price. You can design your own on Canva, or purchase a design on Etsy, which is what I did.
It is much more affordable to frame the sign, or secure it to a piece of cardboard or foam board with spray adhesive or a glue stick. I went with a 24×28 sign and displayed it on an easel.
This became a great picture taking spot.

To keep with the baby boy theme I went with a blue and white maxi dress paired with a lightweight cardigan from Amazon. My sister Joanne’s beautiful floral dress is also from Amazon!

Amanda was surrounded by friends and family and it really was a wonderful day.

One of the things I really tried to do was get pictures of mom-to-be with each guest. It was a little difficult as guests came at different times, but I did my best.

My son Derek and his girlfriend, Carrie. My dad, the proud great-grandfather with Joanne and her son, Brady.
Cards and Gifts Table
Can you believe I found the acrylic cards and gifts sign at the thrift store for $3? This can be used at future birthday parties and other celebrations.
Rather than use plastic tablecloths, I went with white linen rectangle tablecloths and round tablecloths. They were fairly inexpensive and again can be used at future parties.

My friend from Michelle James Designs made the adorable lighted acrylic sign and a set of wood monthly discs. My daughter loves the sweet sign and it will look so cute in the nursery.

Quick tip: purchase a pre-made diaper cake and embellish it with ribbon and other accessories.

The DIY steamer trunk makes a great toy chest for baby and also served as a decorative piece at the shower.

Memorial Table
One of the most memorable parts of the shower was the memorial table for my husband, Amanda’s dad. It was very important to include him in this celebration. There were a few tears shed for sure!
- Handpicked for Earth Onesie
- NFL Football Team Onesie – my husband was a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan, so I had to include adorable pajamas for baby. We also have a New England Patriots set to support our local team!
- Shadow Box Frame – when moving recently I found Amanda’s “dolly” and placed it in a shadow box along with photos of her as a baby holding dolly. This will be hung in the nursery.

DIY Hydrangea Centerpieces
The baby shower centerpieces included silk hydrangeas topped with it’s a boy centerpiece sticks and balloons.

Baby Shower Food Ideas
We went with classic finger foods and some of mom-to-be’s favorite food ideas. There was enough variety with a mix of hot and cold food.
- Blue and White Floral Plates and Napkins
- Baked Mac and Cheese
- Finger Sandwiches – ham and cheese, chicken salad, turkey
- Pasta Salad
- Calzones – pepperoni and cheese, spinach
- Lemon Chicken
- Oven Roasted Potatoes
- Pizza Strips (Rhode Island style)
- Veggie Platter

Mom-osa Bar
For a signature drink, we went with a mom-osa station. This was extremely popular. We had 3 different kinds of juices and assorted fruit that guests could either top with sprite for a non-alcoholic option or top with champagne.

Prosecco Favor Gifts
For baby in bloom party favors I made personalized mini champagne bottles with the hydrangea theme.

Dessert and Cake
Amanda fell in love with the drip cake style so we went with a delicious vanilla cake with buttercream frosting and chocolate ganache between the layers.
- Vanilla Drip Cake – with layers of ganache
- Circus Animal Cake Pops – you can check out a great collection of baby shower snacks here.
- Cigar Pretzels
- Assorted Mini Pastries – mini brownies, whoopie pies, chocolate chip cookies

Another fun thing we included was a station where each guest could decorate a block for baby.

Diaper Raffle Gift
A diaper raffle entry was included with each invitation. A table was set up where guests could place their entry along with the diapers.

For the diaper raffle gift, I put together an igloo cooler gift that was a big hit! With beach season just about here this is a useful gift that also kept with our baby blue color scheme.
Here are some ideas of what you can fill it with:
- Igloo cooler – I went with a 28 qt cooler. They have really pretty colors like pink, purple and teal.
- 2 Beach Towels – check Dollar General, Walmart or Target Bullseye for some cute designs.
- Assorted Beach Snacks – tall pringle size cans fit perfectly, along with sweet snacks that do not melt such as gummy bears and licorice, beef jerky, grapes, cheese and crackers.
- Igloo Ice Packs

If you are interested in making your own invitations and other printables, I share the hydrangea Canva templates with you. You can easily change out the colors to go with your theme.

Summer Baby Shower Themes For a Boy or Girl
Planning a summer baby shower? Here are some popular theme ideas. It’s the perfect season to get creative with bright colors, fresh florals, and fun outdoor-inspired details.
Whether you’re hosting for a baby boy, girl, or keeping it gender-neutral, these adorable summer baby shower themes are full of sunshine and charm.
- Little Sunshine – bright yellows, sunshine décor, and cheerful summer vibes
- Oh Boy! Nautical Ahoy – anchors, sailboats, and coastal summer charm
- Here Comes the Son – perfect for a baby boy with sun, clouds, and warm summer colors
- Baby-Q Backyard BBQ – casual and fun with gingham, burgers, lemonade, and picnic vibes
- Berry Sweet Baby – strawberries, florals, and red-and-pink summer sweetness
- Little Cutie on the Way – orange and citrus-inspired décor that’s bright and adorable
- Bumble Bee Baby – sunny yellows with “What Will Baby Bee?” details
- Sunflowers & Smiles – rustic summer charm with cheerful sunflower décor
- Ready to Pop – balloons, popcorn, soda pop, and bright festive colors
- Wildflower Garden Party – soft florals and pastel garden décor
So what would I do differently? It’s very important to have a plan B. For example, we planned an outdoor party, but the weather did not cooperate.
Thankfully, my sister worked her magic and we managed to set up tables and chairs inside. We still had a few tables outside so guests could come in and out.
Another thing I would recommend is designating someone to take pictures. It will relieve any stress and also ensure you get pictures of everyone.
Plan for leftovers. We had way too much food left. It is always good to have more, but consider having containers to send food home with guests if it will be going to waste.
All in all, it was a wonderful celebration! If you are planning a baby shower, bridal shower, or any celebration at home I hope you found these ideas helpful.
