How to Decorate with Free Printables
Here are some simple tips for decorating your home with printables:
- Find free printables online and print them out on your printer
- Frame the prints with inexpensive frames from a craft store or Ikea
- Hang the framed prints on a blank wall in your home for some instant art
- Change up the prints every few months to keep things fresh
- Use different colors, patterns, and fonts to create a unique look for your home
I thought it would be fun to share a few ideas of how you can decorate your home with printables, other than hanging them on the wall.
Here are a few super easy DIY projects that you can make yourself with these pretty graphics.
Dollar Tree Houses with Decoupage
The first project I’m sharing are these pretty Dollar Tree wood houses:
Supplies for wood houses craft:
- White Chalk Paint
- Foam Brushes
- Mod Podge
- Wood Houses – Dollar Tree
Here is what the houses look like from Dollar Tree. I used the backside so I can still use the premade sign if I want, or I may change it to a summer project!
Step 1. Paint the house
Paint the house with chalk paint and a foam brush. I gave it 2 coats letting it dry between coats.
Step 2. Cut the printable
Next up, trim your printable to fit the wood house. I LOVE my Cricut Paper Cutter.
Step 3. Add mod podge
Now it’s time to cover your wood house with mod podge. I use another foam brush for this step.
Place your printable on top of the decoupaged house and secure it with another coat of mod podge. Smooth out any wrinkles.
Quick tip: use a plastic bag to smooth out wrinkles. This helps avoid tearing.
Step 4. Decorate the wood house
You can decorate the wood house however you like. I added twine and one of the felt flowers that were already on the wood house.
Mason Jar Decoupage Craft
For the second project using these Easter printables, I updated an inexpensive mason jar.
Follow the same process noted above for the mason jar. I did tear the “hoppy” in this photo, but will fix that with a sharpie!
One of my favorite things about crafting is there are no mistakes. Everything can be fixed. 🙂
The houses and mason jars are the perfect size to use on tiered trays:
Farmhouse Galvanized Tin with Decoupage
I found this adorable galvanized tin at the craft store on sale for about $2! My first thought was to add a pretty graphic to it.
This little bunny is just perfect for it don’t you think?
The great thing about decoupage is you can use this technique on just about anything. I’m slightly obsessed with this process and have many tutorials dedicated to it.
Here Are a Few of my Most Popular Decoupage Projects:
- How to Decoupage with Napkins
- How to Decoupage on Glass
- How to Make Buffalo Check Plates with Mod Podge
- How to Decoupage with Mod Podge on Soap
The most common way to decorate with printables is to simply frame them. My little wall gallery uses budget-friendly dollar store frames.
My printables are sized perfectly to fit in an 8×10 frame, but you can also print them out in a smaller size to frame.
There you have it! Four beautiful and simple DIY ideas for decorating with free printables.
I hope you enjoy these freebies as much as I enjoy sharing them with you! If so, please share this post with your friends.
It really helps my blog…and it doesn’t cost anything. 🙂
